Introduction: The "Castle Musicians"...began in 2004 with a class at Shasta College

Since 2008, the "Castle Musicians" group meets for lessons at nominal charge as a continuation of Spring and Fall classes at the Senior Citizen's Hall (Redding, Benton Drive).


Classes at Senior Citizen's Hall in Redding, CA: FREE BEGINNING CLASSES

 Spring Session—begins on the first Friday in April
 Fall Sessionbegins on the first Friday in October

 

 

April 29th, 2011: Thank you for April Recorder Class
Kay teaches classes at the Senior Citizens Hall in Redding, CA. 5-week sessions are held twice a year (in April and October). Classes are FREE, but a person must join the Hall ($10 dues).

 

Persons may enroll for classes with OR without musical background and ability to read music.

  Each session is five weeks in length and is designed to lay a foundation in the following areas:
  recorder technique
  approach to recorder music
  introduction to repertoire and historical periods
  how to play with CD accompaniment
  how to effectively practice and play with others
  At the end of five weeks, participants should be able to easily plays five notes, breathe and blow to create a pleasing tone quality, play a variety of simple rhythmic patterns, and read music.

Begin attending rehearsals/group lessons of the Castle Musicians

  Castle Musicians' rehearsals at this time (2011) are actually group lessons, so there is a minimal charge to attend.

RATES: Two players (semi-private lesson) @ $10 per person. Three or more players @ $5 per person.

Other, more advanced ensembles (Reveling Recorders and the Willow Wind Consort) are coached by Kay without a fee.
